Penny Collins . . .

Whether through a flower, a sunset, a portrait, or an abstract, what I create is inspired in some way by nature. My goal is to capture and portray a bit of the essence and mystery from the world around us. Working with glass, rocks, shells, etc. in mosaics allows me to incorporate elements of nature into my work and play with the combined effects of color, light, and texture. Painting with watercolors challenges me to let go and explore the medium's inherent unpredictability and become more spontaneous with the unexpected results. I take photos, often of seemingly ordinary subjects, with the intention of finding something interesting and even extraordinary through the camera lens. I am continually learning and developing my artistic processes and techniques for each medium to grow as an artist. It gives me pleasure to share my work with others and hope that they will discover something uniquely interesting and stimulating.
